Rihanna has reportedly done what most business-minded artists are eager to do at some point in their careers: own the masters of their recordings. Masters are typically owned by the record label to which an artist is signed. But Rihanna apparently made that move recently, acquiring “the masters of all her previous albums,” Vogue reports.

During her interview with Vogue, she spoke about the fake rivalry that she says is drummed up between her and another pop icon, Beyoncé. There is no rivalry, she says, because neither woman can do, or does, what the other one does. However we all know her rivalry with Ciara was not made up; I still remember her making fun of Ciara in the bathroom singing Body Party, before it came out and turned out to be a huge hit. So Rihanna does feud, but she knows better to feud with someone like Ciara and not someone like Beyonce and her army the BeyHive. (Just ask Kerri Hilson and the 9 other women who’s careers hit major problems after dissing Beyonce.)

“Here’s the deal. They just get so excited to feast on something that’s negative,” Rihanna explained. “Something that’s competitive. Something that’s, you know, a rivalry. And that’s just not what I wake up to. Because I can only do me. And nobody else is going to be able to do that.”

Regarding her hit single “Work,” Rihanna says that it reflects her Bajan roots. Regardless of whether the communication is “perfect,” everyone understands each other in the Caribbean, and that’s all that matters, she says.

“You get what I’m saying, but it’s not all the way perfect,” she says, “because that’s how we speak in the Caribbean.”

She gushed over her “Work” collaborator, Drake, saying that “everything he does is so amazing.” The inspiration for the “Work” video is based on the dancehall scene in the Caribbean where everyone would “just dance and drink and smoke and flirt.”

Mya announced on Twitter that she has a new album coming out called Smoove Jones. It will be released on Valentines day and two single have been released “Team you” and “Welcome to my world”.
‏@MISSMYA #MusicMonday #SMOOVEJONES project avail4 pre order exclusively on #February14 #VDay #2016

I’ve always been a fan of Mya’s and I can’t hate on a chick that’s on her grind, it was hard to see her go from being in the Oscar winning movie Chicago and her last hot music was the Lady Marmalade collaboration years ago, but it was really disheartening to see that she’s gone from performing in stadiums to strip clubs, the career is supposed to work the opposite way. However, you do what you have to do to keep the money coming in, side note: She was singing and dancing in the strip club, she didn’t actually strip, here’s a clip below. As a fan I wanted Mya off the pole and back on the stage in stadiums where she belongs. She is too talented for the pole.

via press release:

Burbank, CA (September 29, 2015) – Grammy Award®-nominated, multiplatinum superstar Nicki Minaj will executive produce a new scripted comedy series for ABC Family that she will also appear in. It was announced today by Karey Burke, Executive Vice President Programming and Development, ABC Family. The single-camera comedy will shoot in her hometown of Queens, New York this winter.

The half-hour comedy is based on Minaj and her family’s immigration from Trinidad in the early 1990’s. It will focus on her growing up in Queens with her vibrant family and the personal and musical evolution that led to her eventual rise to stardom.

“Nicki Minaj is a force to be reckoned with at everything she touches,” said Burke. “We’re beyond thrilled to bring her one-of-a-kind story to our channel. Nicki is an international superstar, yet not everyone knows how inspiring and hilarious her true story is, and we can’t wait to share it with the world.”

“This is one of the more unique adventures I’ve ever embarked on,” said Minaj. “I couldn’t be more proud and excited to team up with an amazing group of people to give the world something really special.”

Kate Angelo (“Sex Tape,” “Will and Grace,” “Bernie Mac”) penned the pilot and will write and executive produce the series. Minaj, Aaron Kaplan (“Life in Pieces,” “Chasing Life, and “Divorce”), Stella Bulochnikov and Brian Sher (“Boss”), and Gee Roberson will also serve as executive producers.
Minaj continues to break records and impact pop culture at large. She is in the midst of her record-breaking worldwide “Pinkprint” tour and recently completed production of her first starring movie role in MGM’s Barbershop 3. Minaj is the first solo female artist to have seven singles charting simultaneously on the “U.S. Billboard Hot 100.” Her critically lauded third full-length album, “The Pinkprint” [Young Money Entertainment/Cash Money Records], became the second highest-selling female debut of 2014 and arrived at #2 on the Billboard Top 200 and #1 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart, cementing her as rap’s reigning queen.

Expanding her international influence, Minaj hosted the 2014 MTV EMAs where she received the “Best Hip Hop” award. At the 2015 BET Awards, she garnered “Best Female Hip-Hop Artist” for the sixth straight year. 2015 Grammy Award nominations include “Best Rap Song” for “Anaconda” and “Best Pop/Duo Performance” for “Bang Bang” with Ariana Grande and Jessie J.

Minaj also stands at the top of the pop vanguard. The double-platinum “Anaconda” set the record for most VEVO views in 24 hours. Nicki also achieved the highest digital sales for any female artist in history, with over 50 million track sales between solo and feature performances. She and Adele are the only two artists in history to sell 1 million copies of five different songs in one year. She also holds the record for most Hot 100 entries on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. Throughout her career, Minaj has been awarded 4 American Music Awards, 8 BET Awards, 7 BET Hip Hop Awards, 4 Billboard Music Awards, 2 MTV EMA’s, 3 MTV Video Music Awards and a People’s Choice award. Outside of music, she has been featured in the films “Ice Age: Continental Drift” and “The Other Woman,” in addition to judging “American Idol.” An icon of her time, Nicki is truly on the road to legendary.
