Movie Review: The movie is basically about a bunch of friends filming themselves traveling to different haunted houses in search of the scariest one. I had no expectations going into the movie; it’s yet another found footage movie such as “the Blair Witch Project”, “Paranormal Activity” and “Rec”. It’s from the producers of “Paranormal Activity” and “Insidious”. So there is always a 50/50 chance that the movie will be good; it was “OK”, almost good, not great but also not bad. The beginning of the film is actually pretty creepy and well paced, but when shit gets real; The character I’m hearing is named Doll Face showing up miles away from where you last saw her, evil clowns following you, being surrounded in your RV by a horde of scary haunted house performers and having one of them break into your RV and record you while you’re sleeping isn’t enough to make you pack and say, “Fuck it I’m going home, I don’t know what will.” It’s at this point in the movie that things go from good to just ok, due to the decent into typical horror movie stupid decisions, the characters get progressively dumber as the movie continues. The explanation being that they don’t believe it’s actually real. That it’s all apart of some huge elaborate show; “That they did not pay for and has followed them even after they have left town.” The worst part was at the end you basically could not see what was going on; most of it was off camera or the screen was basically black because it’s found footage video, if someone isn’t holding the camera you only get a partial or no view of what’s going on. I recommend this for drunk viewing on Halloween.
